Michael at Live. Teach.Create is hosting a contest to make something steampunk inspired. I made a journal.
The cover is made of grunge board and covered with brushed corduroy distress ink. Then I taped off the edges and covered with copper and blue ("Pool" I think) alcohol ink. I took off the tape and sanded the edges. The copper over powered the blue ink but when I sanded it the blue showed up in the sanded off spots. Then I used Tim Holtz masks and black distress ink on the inside. The cover for the paper pad is also grunge board covered with a grey ink and I used rivets to attach it to the cover. Then I put eyelets in the corners and attached a little spring/clear bead to the upper left hand eyelet. I then attached the chain closure with rivets and attached a little scrabble "M" to it, just for Michael! I then used copper and blue alcohol inks of the metal numbers and attached them to the cover. I inked the gears with the copper and blue alcohol inks also and attached those. Then a little domino piece and charm were attached inside. Finally I put an eyelet near the top left of the paper pad and attached a pencil with a piece of leather and a chain.
I am very much in love with this and I can not wait to get my hands on the new Steampunk line from G45. I hope I win Michael's contest!
