I haven't been keeping up with Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2013 but I thought I'd give August's tag a try. It's all about layering with masks.

Birthday Present
I spent the weekend and a little of this week working on a birthday present for a friend.
The pennants are paper and there is a pompom on top of the hat but other than those, it's all paint.
I've come a long way in a short time with my painting and it makes me so happy. I truly love this medium and I can't wait to learn and experience more.
Have a great long weekend!

Long Over Due
Wow! It's been a long time since I've posted here.
Since December of 2011 I've been all over the place with my artful endeavors.
I taught for a while (until October 2012), have taken a lot of classes (general crafts, art journalling, scrapbooking, drawing, painting, muskrat skinning) but mostly I've just been exploring and creating.
The most exciting thing I've done is register for She Art Matters Retreat MEXICO with Christy Tomlinson and Junelle Jacobsen! In December of this year, I'll be spending 7 days in Puerto Vallarta relaxing, painting and learning from some awesome artists!
So, I want to get back to sharing my art with the world or at least the few people who read this blog.
This piece is called "Strive". I started by cutting her hair out of a Christy Tomlinson She Art Words Coffee Filter Sheet and modge podging it in place. These coffee filters are awesome. They are fibrous so they don't tear as easily as tissue paper. Then I worked on the back ground with a little of everything. Stamps with ink, stamps with paint, markers, stencils, found items. You name it, I used it. Then I covered the whole background with Tattered Angels Glitter Glam in Chandiler. Next I painted the face and used Faber-Castell india ink markers to add the details. Then I painted the hair and used the india ink markers to add some depth. I added the word which came from Tim Holtz Idea-ology ChitChat Stickers, coloured them with the india ink markers and outlined them using a Molotow paint pen in white. Finally I covered the whole think in modge podge to seal it.
Ta ta for now!

Tim's 12 Tags of Christmas...Day 3
Tim's Day 3
Reinker, embossing, greenery, alcohol ink and a bell.
My Day 2
I didn't have the stamp or the reinker so I used several different holiday greeting stamps with various inks to create the tag. I used the autumn gatherings to create the greenery and added some red bling for the holly.

Tim's 12 Tags of Christmas...Day 2
Tim's Day 2
Kraft resist paper, white Distress Stain, ink, canvas, brads and burlap.
My Day 2
I didn't have kraft resist paper so I made my own. I started by using a sheet music stamp with black Archival ink on kraft paper. Then I stamped "Merry Christmas" with embossing ink and covered with clear embossing powder. Covered the tag with white Distress Stain and then stamped the holly.

APOS! BLING IT ON! Blog Hop
The current term for the APOS! inspiration team is coming to a end this month and we're celebrating a wonderful 6 months with a blog hop.
Each member created a canvas using buttons, ribbon/lace and bling.
I created a "She" witch. Sorry for the horrible picture but I couldn't find the cable from my camera and had to use my phone. The words say "When witches go riding and black cats are seen, the moon laughs and whispers, 'tis near Halloween".
She was inspired by the witch from My Mind's Eye Mischievous collection.
Check out the member's blogs and don't forget to leave a comment for your chance to win a prize!
If you came here from Kelsey's blog you're on the right track. If not, start at Diana's blog and work your way through all the member blogs. The nest stop is Tam's blog.
